I'm a better runner because of this!

If it wasn't for these ab workouts I believe I wouldn't have seen an improvement in my runs.

good core work will help anyone...runner or not

Countdown til Our Wedding!

I really need to update this more. I wish I could make up an excuse, but I can't.

Next Saturday I will be a married woman! I'm very excited at this giant leap in our lives together. We keep getting asked, "are you guys nervous?" Honestly, no! We know its right and we know what we want out of life. We aren't the type of people that aren't honest with our feelings. If we were feeling a bit of uneasiness we'd tell one another. It's just how we've been since we met. Hehe mushy stuff!

Anyway,Breakfast was yummy!

I tried the new Trop50 O.J! So yummy! Nobody likes any of my less sugar products at home so I have a whole jug to finish before the fridge gets packed full of food for the wedding. Argh!

I've been having these really awful runs lately. I may be burnt out. I twisted my ankle on the treadmill last week at the gym cause I was just in this mindset of "pound it out and lets get outta here"

Maybe I'm just needing a little break....I can't because I have a race June 28th! If I stop now all my progress gets thrown out the window in my eyes. I do need to take care of my body though. It's the most important thing and also there WILL be other races! We shall see! I'm heading off for a long run now & that will determine my next couple of months on racing.

Ciao!

Going,Going....GONE!

I had major computer trouble. We had a virus on our main PC. My husband had to transfer everything from one hard drive to another and delete everything and reinstall windows. It was dramatic and annoying. I can't upload anything on my laptop because I don't have the software for my camera installed on it and I couldn't find it either! Doh!

I've been logging everything in my head. Probably not the best idea, but I did well!

We had our pre-wedding party last Saturday. It was amazing. His parents sort of threw everything together last minute! They did an incredible job and we were shocked! We were stuck with the yummy leftovers! Oh boy! We will be eating Mexican food for weeks to come.

His parents bought me a Griddle because they know how much I LOVE making pancakes. We actually have what I call,"Saturday Morning Pancakes!" hehe

His aunt made us towels with our names on them and the Barela last name, which I am taking!

My best friend and I went and joined a 24 hour gym that I use to be a member of. I really love all the upgrades they've made. I also just overall enjoyed the staff and how nice they are. It's just one of those gyms you don't DREAD going to. I have an at home gym that works just fine for me,but I need other things and working out at home isn't always a good thing. I tend to get very lazy and not work as hard. I will run slower or pedal slower cause I'm having to watch the dogs or making dinner. Too chaotic! I also have a habit of spending massive amounts of hours at the gym. I have to be sure not to put in too much cardio. I remember the days when I'd literally burn over 1500 calories (according to my heart rate monitor) at the gym. YIKES!

I pretty much have been having the same breakfast every morning since I wasn't able to log anything.

33grams Special K
1/2 cup Almond Breeze (Unsweetend)
1 banana

Baked Ziti is what I had EVERY NIGHT last week. Last week was EAT ALL THE LEFTOVERS BEFORE THE WEDDING WEEK!

We had a real gloomy week. It was sort of nice waking up on a Sunday while it was raining. My husband actually made me breakfast for the first time since we've been together. (He's mostly the dinner making type)

2 low-fat cheese Enchiladas
1 poached egg
2 mini corn tortillas

I ate leftovers from our party for dinner last night.

2 low-fat cheese Enchiladas
1/3 cup spanish rice
1/2 cup beans
2 mini corn tortillas

This is probably the most amazing gift. I was wishing and dreaming for this! His aunt made them for us. What a doll!

I love Fiber One products! The pancake mix is my number 1!

I played with my new Griddle tonight! It set the theme for dinner.

3 pancakes
2 turkey sausage patties
1/3 cup egg beaters
1tsp hot sauce

Long Distance Sunday's

Friday's meals were all over the place. I woke up and didn't really feel hungry. I snacked my whole day. I went and had Chinese with a few friends after work and had Chicken Low Mein!

I went home with leftovers and some eats for the husband. I came home and had a nice cold Honey Moon!

I really can say I woke up starving Saturday morning. I didn't bother to log anything Saturday because my day was packed full of laying around and kickboxing....then some more laying around! I did try a banging little dessert Saturday night! I've always been a fan of Guiltless Gourmet products. This has been sitting on my shelf for about 3 weeks now. We were in the mood for something sweet. It takes about 90 seconds!

Add fudge powder with 2 tablespoons water.
Mix!

Pop in the microwave and BAM! Place the fudge frosting on and there ya go! It's super sweet. I had to share it! (If you are the type that likes to make everything look super fancy. Do not put the fudge topping on right after you take it out. It melts and looks gross)

Sunday- The Long Distance day! I usually try to log about 10 miles. I only managed 6.5 today. I was so sore from a concert I went to Thursday.

Breakfast was power packed with carbs!

Lunch was a Lean Cuisine Panini. MMMMM for microwave food!

Dinner was wonderful. grilled teriyakichicken, broc, grilled pineapple, and sesame rice pilaf!

Dessert! Take the Cake icecream (half the fat) on a pretty pink cone ( which i ate )

Miles logged this week - 25 miles!

I need to focus on ab work this week and weights cause I'm slacking big time!

I've also had to take an over the counter sleep aid tonight to sleep. I have two weeks and a half weeks before my wedding and I am up at night running through my list of stuff that needs to be done. Everything is done tho! I just keep making stuff up!

Here and There

I use to love being busy and now I feel like I never have time to myself. When I go out for my run's I'm on a time crunch and I'm hitting the pavement as fast as I can in order to make it somewhere on time. Boo-hoo

As of late, my lunches look like this everyday. I'm picking up a lot more hours than what I'm scheduled for so I have to pack a nice snack and a small lunch to prevent hardcore grumpiness. I don't like eating a lot at work because I sit all day long.

My normal oats or cereal breakfast are getting boring and old, So, I'm addicted to waffles. Next week, manic pancakes! I like to put light whipped cream on pretty much everything in the morning. I don't know why maybe because I don't eat much dessert. (which I should really start eating!!!)

I'm not an avid beer drinker, but the husband is. He's always had Blue Moon in the our icebox and I finally worked up the courage to buy myself some when he ran out. I went for their seasonal brew Honey Moon. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEFFINGMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

I'm now a fan of this beer and will continue to drink it. I downed a bottle and half last night. I'm a lightweight drinker. I ended up falling asleep and dreaming I was running a 20 mile trail run in the Sandia Mountains.

I woke up this AM feeling a bit out of sorts. The things I must do today:

  1. Watching last sundays Breaking Bad! (love that show. if you don't watch it....you should!)
  2. Workout!!!! (Probably a kickboxing class or I'll jump on my bike and go for a long ride!)
  3. Clean (everything)
  4. Finish my last Honey Moon and make a delicious dinner!
  5. Gather all my gear together for Sunday's Long Run Day! (15 to 18 miles...maybe)
  6. Sleep!

Lazy Mondays

I've always made Monday's my "off day" when I train. I just don't like mixing the start of the work week with working out. I try to always fit something active into my day. Today! I washed the car! Some jerk had wrote "wash me!" on my car window in the parking lot at work. I took their advice and washed my car. Took me 45 minutes because I'm a neat freak. Ever since I was a child I've paid attention to detail. I mean, it freaks out my soon-to-be husband, sometimes.

This morning was wonderful! I woke up ready to get the week started! What better way than with some Special K!

Our lunch my in-laws invited us out to eat at a local Mexican place. I was starving and had not had lunch and was ready to pig out. I always say that when I go out to eat but end up eating half my meal and eating the rest for dinner. So...for a 7.50 lunch special I managed to get a lunch and dinner out of that! HAHA TO THE ECONOMY!

For a mid-morning snack I had a homemade Rice Crispy treat. Sugar filled treat at 9am not a good idea. Why snack at 9am? Because my work day starts at 545am and I usually eat breakfast at 4:30 am.

My pace has only improved by one damn minute. I'm getting sort of annoyed with myself! I mean, can I complain at 9 minutes? Sorta...I know I'm capable of doing atleast 7:30. I just am scared of risking injury again. I have to work on my speedwork more these next two weeks. I don't want to run this race half ass like I did my last one. I did great overall, but I was not happy with the fact my knee decided to fail on me and I was literally in tears at the finish. (All from the pain!!!!)

Mellow Yellow

TGIF! I only have to work 4 hours today. This week was chaotic! I got a total of 19 hours of sleep since Wend. So, I took a nap as soon as I got home from work yesterday. Woke up & went for a short run and went back to bed after dinner. I feel much better and alert.

Have you ever tried running a distance longer than 2 miles while half asleep? It's heartbreaking. I felt like I was gonna cry because of my lack of sleep. Pathetic!

Last night's dinner was fab! I had two eggs on whole wheat toast, spinach with tomatoes and garlic with some potatoes added in! To drink was some ice, ice, ice, ice, ice cold pomo tea!

Lately, I've been craving shakes again. I busted out the Magic Bullet (hehe, I always giggle at the name.) I made a delicious post-run/dessert smoothie! The quality is bad,but trust me it was yummy! :-)

I'm getting married in alittle less than a month now & I have to stop from spending my money on running gear. I'm the type that likes to buy the latest cool shorts or shoes. I found these at Ladies Footlocker last week! Soooooooo cute!

I get tired of my same boring old oatmeal. I normally eat it plain or with brown sugar and walnuts. Behold,bb's...STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE OATMEAL! It was fan-freaking-tastic! ( I may have used too much organic light whipped cream tho. :-\ )

I was looking at my planner this morning and realized my races are coming up. My first reaction was... HOLY HELL!!! My training is great, but I just didn't realized how close they are creeping up on me. Plus, I might do Worldest Toughest 10k May 17th....MAAAAYBE. I don't know if running two races four weeks apart is the smartest idea for my gimp knee.

Couple weeks after my Wedding. The posters are so cute!

Off to get ready for work & making a new playlist for the Ipod!

Two Weeks of the Flu

I firmly believe Green Tea & Honey will cure all of your problems in under 24 hours. Of course, you must drink massive amounts before you notice. hehe

I had the best week of my life! I was tested for swine flu because I had every flu-like symptom. My results came back and I did have a very serious case of the flu, but no swine flu. My mother and husband were convinced 100% it was swine because 1 day before I started to feel sick I was at a concert filled with all sorts of people from around the state.

I wasn't able to eat or drink much. I stuck with Sprite and Saltines. I also started reading New Moon ( I really dislike these books, but I can't stop reading. I feel like a giddy12 year old even though most 12 year olds have only watched the movie.)

I love, love, love to cook, but lately since the semester ended for me I've been lazy. I think its a mix of work and training for my next two runs. I've increased my milage and that has made me stoked, but tired towards 6:30. I look for the quickest most healthy thing I can throw together.

BEHOLD:

I called it...TERAS MOTHERS IDEA BROUGH TO LIFE BY ME (Tera)
  1. Turkey Susage
  2. Cabbage
  3. Red Potatos
  4. Splash of Olive Oil
You just cut it all up and place it on your oven (on your desired temp) I like mine crispy so I go for 450. I usually cook it an hour and 15 minutes OR until everything is tender. YUMMY!!!

Last night I finally got to eat pasta, again. It felt like ages since I was able to eat a real meal that didn't involve soup or crackers.

My dish.
The husbands dish. (Whats the difference besides incredible portion size.)

Oh and possibly the best mid-afternoon snack from any local store:

I've had about three days of no running just recovery from this flu bug. I plan on hitting the pavement first thing Saturday morning at 6am for a nice 10 miler.
